The We Love America Yay Party (WLAYP) is a major American Political Party formed by film executive Jeffrey Meena during the 2020 presidential election. The basis of the party began with the suggestion of cessation of immoral coffee producing conglomerates such as Starbucks, but it soon became a full-fledged party, bringing Meena to the presidency and Maribel Sarkeesian to the Vice Presidency in 2020.
2020 Elections
In the 2020 United States Presidential Election, the WLAYP skyrocketed to prominence and brought Jeffrey Meena and Maribel Sarkeesian to the White House with the slimmest possible electoral college victory: 270 votes. The party smashed the duopoly that the Democrats and Republicans had held for over 150 years. Despite only winning the slightest plurality of the popular vote, the general populace became much more on board with the agenda of Meena and the WLAYP after Crimson Trump passed the Orange Lid Act immediately following his election loss.
Despite winning the electoral college, after the 2020 elections there were still no Senators identifying with the party. There were three victories in the House of Representatives, all from the state of Washington.
2022 Midterm Elections
Between January of 2021 and August of 2022, 291 members of the House of Representatives joined the WLAYP, and 15 Senators did the same. momentum looked like it was on the side of the party heading into the midterms, until the incredibly chaotic events during the 2022 War of Церпх and the worsening situation in Panama led to a much more contested race.
The majority of remaining Republicans and Democrats in the House either changed their identification to "Independent" or joined the third party, the Witch's Coven Party, a group that had hesitantly allied with the WLAYP in 2020.
By the end of the election, no one party held an outright majority in the House or Senate. The WLAYP held 200 seats in the House and 17 in the Senate, a weaker showing than expected.
2024 Elections
The 2024 United States Presidential Election was frought with intense controversy. After Meena suspiciously declared his intentions to invade West Africa, married his Vice President, and subsequently removed her from the 2024 ticket in exchange for Louisiana WLAYP Senator Harlow Tinfoil, Meena's capacity to lead was put into serious doubt.
Three separate secessionist movements broke out after Meena announced his plans to incorporate Liberia, The Gambia, and possibly Sierra Leone as states of the United States. These were the Greater Lakes Movement, the Flahamas Movement, and the Independent DC Movement.
In the end, a six-way electoral college split gave no candidate a majority. After the extremely divisive Compromise of 2024, Jeffrey Meena was selected to remain president, in exchange for allowing the secessionist movements to leave the United States. After Meena allowed the formation of the Republic of the Flahamas, the independent city-state of Washington, DC, and the Land O' Lakes through a series of unconsulted executive orders, articles of impeachment were filed against him. The impeachment move was spearheaded by Meena's soon-to-be ex-wife, Vice President Maribel Sarkeesian.
In the House, the WLAYP held firm at 201 seats and rose to 29 seats in the Senate. Former Republicans, Democrats, and Independents coalesced into a party based on two things they could agree on: Neoliberalism and Sonic The Hedgehog, thereby forming the Neoliberal Sonic Fans' Party, which ended up with 115 seats in the House and 21 seats in the Senate. For about a six weeks, the House featured a coalition of the WLAYP and the three Independence Movements, but as independence took effect these members left Congress. This, by proportion, gave the WLAYP a majority in the House, though the opposition did not recognize the secessions, nor the change in House apportionment. Charles Sumner Jagodzinski was voted House Majority Leader, though in the heated Caning of Jagodzinski he was beaten nearly to death, resigned, and was replaced by Myrna Oilwell.
Meena was convicted by the Senate and removed from office, bringing WLAYP Vice President Harlow Tinfoil to power.
