Nuck vehemently disagreed with this notion, which led to a falling-out between the two. They, together with [[King Arthur]], were the founders of C.H.E.S. and had always been considered the organisation’s de-facto leaders. With Murdock insistence on the transition to Dry Tea, and Nuck’s absolute refusal to allow the consumption of what he on several occasions called ‘an utter abomination and complete affront to nature and all that is holy’, everyone quickly agreed that words had become useless and that the two of them should let their fists speak instead.

The Battle for the Leaf is the name given by both C.H.E.S. and the Leafeaters to the duel between Murdock mac Leod and Nuck Chorris for the leadership of C.H.E.S.

By early 1822, Murdock’s advances in Sterility had ground to a complete halt. Of course, he staunchly refused to believe that he was the problem and instead attributed his lack of progress to C.H.E.S.’s method of consuming tea being flawed. For some reason, he had come to believe in the superiority of Dry Tea and attempted to transition C.H.E.S. away from what he began referring to as ‘wet tea’.

Nuck was veritably disgusted by this notion, which led to a falling-out between the two. They, together with King Arthur, were the founders of C.H.E.S. and had always been considered the organisation’s de-facto leaders.

The subsequent duel between Nuck and Murdock was conducted in the form of a traditional bare-knuckle boxing match, albeit with Sterility-enhanced punches, and ended with Nuck’s victory and Murdock’s KO in the 1527th round after an uninterrupted 3 days of fighting. Following his victory, Nuck assumed the sole leadership of C.H.E.S., and Murdock, unable to bear his defeat, left C.H.E.S. with his closest associates and founded the Leafeaters.
