Emperor Charles II[1] is a Quasi-Hemigod with the body of an emperor penguin and a member of the Leafeaters; he is the archnemesis of King Arthur.

Charles II came into being around 750 AD when an English monk, who is sometimes referred to as ‘Charles I’, by chance obtained and subsequently consumed some of King Arthur’s extrasterile algae tea. This act led to a severe distortion in the nature of his existence, turning Charles I into a mindless Sterility addict who subsequently went on a rampage near what is now the town of Adwick le Street in the West Riding of Yorkshire, leading to the death of around three dozen locals.

He was subsequently both tracked down and killed by King Arthur, following a ‘battle’ that lasted a grand total of 1.2 seconds. King Arthur then initiated an Inverse Mandelbrot Transfer on him, upon completion of which Charles would have been granted Super Death. Charles, however—without King Arthur noticing—managed to avoid such a fate by detonating what little remained of his Sterility in the very moment before the transfer could be completed, destroying most of his consciousness in the process and voluntarily undergoing denaturation. Thus, he became a Hyper Ghost.

Eventually, the remnants of his existence drifted all the way to Antarctica where they came to reside in the Impotent Husk of an unnaturally sterile penguin. This event engendered the Quasi-Hemigod known as Charles II, and kindled a life-long hostility in him towards King Arthur.

The creation of Charles II became a well-known tale within C.H.E.S. and is generally used by King Arthur to dissuade new members from handing out Sterility-enhanced tea to untrained individuals. Murdock mac Leod subsequently recruited Charles II into the Leafeaters shortly after the establishment of the faction.

Ability

Charles II’s ability, All Roads Lead to Rome, allows him to control the trajectory of nearby forces to point in his direction. For example, he can redirect an opponent’s attack on one of his allies to be aimed at himself instead. Of course, this also means that this ability is not particularly useful in single combat.

Notes

  1. Not to be confused with any of these.
