The Veterans of the Riparian Expedition are an elite anti-coffee branch of the Gambian Armed Forces, made up of 60 soldiers from the Decaf Squad and other anti-coffee troops who participated in and survived the deadliest battle of the Coffee War, the Battle of Gambian Tributary Number Twelve.

In May of 2020, when Adama Barrow's public support reached 25%, he began preparing for armed conflict in the Gambia. By November, Adama had learned that Yahya Jammeh was apparently back from the dead in some form and would soon be coming for the throne.

In December 2020, after Barrow announced the cancellation of the 2021 Gambian Presidential election after the UN successfully deployed Peacekeeping Forces to the Gambia to monitor areas of high illegal caffeine exportation.

Sioux Red Jr. and the Coffee Liberation Front declared official rebellion against the government of the Gambia on January 1st, 2021.

Adama Barrow reluctantly gave official funding to the Decaf Squad, but he knew he would need an elite group of soldiers to defeat them, and thus was formed VORE.

Barrow's most vocally supportive member of the military, Serrekunda Police Chief Benedict Almami, was made the commander of the group. War Son Buba and Patricia Shaddow were also given high ranks.
