Grigory’s Abyme is a Sterility Nadir and the place with the highest-known concentration of Sterility in all of 17i.
The nadir is located in Greenland of both -17i and +17i; indeed, if someone were to fall into it on either side and survive the violent currents of Sterility inside, they’d reemerge on the other end. Thus, both abymes are one and the same, with its center being at the ‘boundary’ between -17i and +17i.
Of course, though some have entered it, there are no recorded instances of anyone passing through the nadir alive; the concentration of Sterility in and around it is such that anyone with Sterility or Fertility levels below that of a C.H.E.S. Master would instantly be granted Super Death upon entering a 15km radius around it.
As such, no-one was ever insane enough to claim ownership over the nadir, until Nuck Chorris decided to relocate his Sultanate to Greenland where he set down his castle on top of the -17i entrance of the nadir, thus sealing it off and putting access to it from the -17i side firmly under C.H.E.S.’s control.
