The Independent DC Movement was an independence movement that successfully sought for the full sovereignty of the District of Columbia, the federal capital of the United States.

The Movement was largely organized by Washington, DC mayor Akifumi Shimoda and the non-voting House of Representatives member for the district, Donna Schlagenkampf.

The movement successfully filed to become a recognized political party for the 2024 Presidential Election, with Shimoda as its candidate. The Supreme COurt had to specifically rule that Shimoda could run, as he was born in Japan during American occupation following World War 2.
