Gustav Tintenwert is an extrafertile Swiss late-impressionist painter.

Early Life

Gustav was born on 4 October 1972 in the city of Winterthur, Switzerland. Born to a father who owned an art gallery, he became infatuated with the works of French impressionist painter Claude Monet during a visit to a museum in Paris in his childhood.

Alas, the impressionist movement had since fallen out of style, and when he tried to make a living as a painter in his early 20s by imitating Monet’s style, his works consistently failed to earn him the recognition he desired, and he spent most of his young adulthood in poverty.

By his mid-20s, Gustav had become thoroughly disheartened and was ready to give up on painting for good. However, fate seemed to have greater things in mind for him.

In late December of 1998, the grand portrait of Odin in the main hall of Yggdrasil suddenly and inexplicably fell off the wall where it had hung for the last three centuries. Upon impacting the floor 400 metres below, the painting practically disintegrated. A furious Odin mobilised all of Yggdrasil, even going so far as to drag Loki out of the basement storage locker he usually kept him in, and sent them across ±17 to commission a painter for a replacement.

Coincidentally, Gustav’s then-boyfriend had just convinced him to attend a local furry convention at around the same time, where Gustav, draped in a full-body fursuit, ran into and was mistaken for a FUR-E by Loki. Upon learning that he was a painter, Loki wasted no time and dragged him into +17i.

Despite his protests that he preferred landscapes over portraiture, a thoroughly bewildered Gustav was thrown into a room with Odin where he was forced to spend the next 3 months painting a 20-metre tall portrait of the master of Yggdrasil. In the end, a new portrait of Odin was hung up in the grand hall, and Loki dumped Gustav back at the locale of the furry convention where he had found him.

However, Gustav was no longer the same. In addition to having acquired a life-long aversion to anything related to fur, the time he had spent in close contact with Odin had inadvertently triggered a Mandelbrot Transfer and rendered Gustav extrafertile. Before long, he learned to incorporate his extrafertility into his paintings.

By recommendation of a close family friend, he would later travel to the Gambia where was introduced to and subsequently hired by Yahya Jammeh to work as a painter, spending most of his time on propaganda art for the Gambian coffee industry.

A Caffeinated Death; a Caffeinated Beginning

By 2011, Gustav’s stay in the Gambia had caused him to amass enough Fertility to form his very own ability, which he named Inkblot. This ability allows Gustav to paint over something to erase it.

At first, his control over this ability was meagre at best, allowing him to paint a hole into a wall or cut canvas down to size. However, this all changed during The Caffeinated Death of 2016: When an angry mob raided Yahya Jammeh’s palace, Gustav was immediately recognised and forced into a corner. Desperate, and in a moment of inspiration, he poured all of his strength into his brush. With Fertility as ink and reality as his canvas, he painted an intricate sigil and erased himself, reappearing over 40km away near the outskirts of Burong.

Having exhausted his Fertility, he decided to remain at Burong for a while to recover, hoping that the flames of revolution would not reach him there. Unbeknownst to him, the supporters of the newly-inaugurated Adama Barrow were hot on his trail, and it only took them three weeks to use some unknown method to track him all the way to Burong.

When an unsuspecting Gustav was ambushed in the dead of night, he was momentarily too shocked to resist and ultimately captured. Just as he was about to be dragged out of Burong and before Adama Barrow, a blinding red light fell from the sky and bestowed a ‘gift’ upon his ambushers. Gustav could only stare wildly as the fertility mages that had just assaulted him violently exploded before his eyes: The Chimney Man had descended before him, and He had ‘gifted’ them a lack of molecular stability, causing the chemical bonds that were holding their bodies together to disintegrate.

On 24 December 2016, an awed Gustav fell to his knees and immediately proclaimed allegiance to the Man in Red.
