Oversteeping is the act of steeping tea for far longer than you usually would, with the express purpose of imbuing it with sterility that is then conferred upon the drinker.

How long tea must be oversteeped to be considered ‘ready’ is highly dependent on the type of tea, but usually, the time is somewhere between 3 and 30 days. There are, however, exceptions to this. For instance, the artificial Orkney Earl Black tea of Nuck’s creation is exceptionally prone to oversteeping.

Over-oversteeping
Oversteeping tea for too long can increase the sterility contained in the tea even more, but it also causes the sterility to start ‘leaking’ out of the tea, thus reducing the amount of sterility absorbed by the drinker compared to properly oversteeped tea. Why this happens is ill-understood, though Nuck tends to speak of it as a matter of fact.

That said, it is actually possible to oversteep tea for longer than normal while still achieving favourable results, but the procedure is rather involved and more ritualistic and traditional than practical in nature—even properly over-oversteeped tea cannot compare in quality to regular, oversteeped Orkney tea.

Charles II came into being around 750 AD when an English monk, who is sometimes referred to as ‘Charles I’, by chance obtained and subsequently consumed some of King Arthur’s extrasterile algae tea. This act led to a severe distortion in the nature of his existence, turning Charles I into a mindless Sterility addict who subsequently went on a rampage near what is now the town of Adwick le Street in the West Riding of Yorkshire, leading to the death of around three dozen locals.

He was subsequently tracked down by King Arthur and had his Sterility severed from his mortal body via an Inverse Mandelbrot Transfer, granting him Super Death. By chance, remnants of his Sterility drifted all the way to Antarctica where they came to reside in the body of a penguin. This event engendered the hemigod known as Charles II. Though now an entirely different being, memory fragments of his death at the hands of King Arthur remained, which kindled a life-long hostility towards the latter.

The creation of Charles II became a well-known tale within C.H.E.S. and is generally used by King Arthur to dissuade new members from handing out Sterility-enhanced tea to untrained individuals. Murdock mac Leod subsequently recruited Charles II into the Leafeaters shortly after the establishment of the faction.
Charles II’s ability, All Roads Lead to Rome, allows him to control the trajectory of nearby forces to point in his direction. For example, he can redirect an opponent’s attack on one of his allies to be aimed at himself instead.
Ability
Charles II’s ability, All Roads Lead to Rome, allows him to control the trajectory of nearby forces to point in his direction. For example, he can redirect an opponent’s attack on one of his allies to be aimed at himself instead. Of course, this also means that this ability is not particularly useful in single combat.
Emperor Charles II is a hemigod with the body of an emperor penguin and a member of the Leafeaters; he is the archnemesis of King Arthur.

Ætérnal:

An Ability allows an individual more supernatural powers than those given by being extrafertile. Most beings only posses one ability, but some have different levels of power or forms. If a being has an additional ability, it is usually relatively weak and passive.

Abilities that utilise Sterility instead are generally dubbed Sterility Techniques; these are often more general than fertility abilities, which tend to have specific effects. In turn, sterility users can usually make use of more than one technique, but said techniques tend to be weaker, and most practitioners never learn to excercise a technique to its fullest extent.

Basic Extrafertility
The common side effects of becoming extrafertile may, but do not always, include in order of commonality:

* Literal "extra fertility": much higher likelihood of procreation

* Longer Lifespan: lifespan average of 120 years (compare to 79 for those of average fertility)

* Enhanced Consciousness: higher sensation of the Imaginary Plane

* Resistance to Super Death via Sterility: only can be super-killed by a being/substance of higher sterile value

* Torsion-Field Telekinesis: ability to levitate or assist in lifting other fertile objects or beings

* Energy Beam Emission: ability to concentrate energy into a beam of varying constitution and shoot them at varying speeds

* Destruction of Sterile Matter: ability to eliminate sterile matter from the universe, sometimes selectively.

One who is extrasterile has similar abilities in + (and sometimes even -) dimensions, except their abilities use sterility and counter fertility.

Similar effects exist for those who utilize anility, virility, chirality, etc.

Basic Extrasterility
The side-effects of high sterility often counteract, but sometimes complement, those granted by extrafertility.

* Literal ‘sterility’: extrasterile individuals are unable to sire or bear children.

* Spatial manipulation: a great number of sterility techniques revolve around the manipulation of space, such as compressing or expanding it.

* Sterility resistance: while sterility tends to corrupt and damage living matter it comes into contact with, extrasterile individuals are generally unaffected by this, save for the most dangerous of Sterility Nadirs.

* Destruction of Fertile Matter: ability to eliminate fertile matter from the universe, sometimes selectively.

* Superhuman strength: Sterility users tend to be several times stronger than the average human.

Emperor Charles II is a hemigod with the body of an emperor penguin and a member of the Leafeaters; he is the archnemesis of King Arthur.

Ability
Charles II’s ability, All Roads Lead to Rome, allows him to control the trajectory of forces to point in his direction. For example, he can redirect an opponent’s attack on one of his allies to be aimed at himself instead. Of course, this also means that this ability is not particularly useful in single combat.

The Temple of Burong is the seventh chapter of The Travels of Dagobert Winter. The full text can be seen below.

Background
Summary of the last chapter: At the temple of Burong, the mausoleum of the Chimney Man: an hour before, Dagobert had accidentally broken one of the Chimney Man’s seals; he and company then fled the temple; Dagobert long deliberated what they should do, and finally, he decided to try and restore the seal.

Text
At length, Dagobert resolved to re-seal the Chimney Man. With Martin in tow, he returned to the main hall of the temple. The entire hall was bathed in an eerie red glow, and the once stately fir atop the Chimney Man’s coffin had cast off its needles and withered, its branches seeping with black ichor. Thirteen of the twenty-four sealing tablets had shattered and fallen to the ground; chains lay about everywhere, and a fourteenth seal had begun to crack.

‘Watch over that coffin’ whispered Dagobert. Martin nodded silently and remained at the entrance.

Cursing his foolishness under his breath, a terrified Dagobert slowly approached one of the broken seals. Reaching into his coat, he retrieved a set of unfired clay tablets and a stylus he had fashioned from reeds growing on the banks of the Gambia River. He placed a tablet among the remains of the seal and began etching a set of ancient Sumerian warding glyphs into the clay.

Before he could finish drawing the first symbol, the entire temple shook as if struck by an earthquake. It was as though someone or something was striking at its walls from the outside, trying to get in. The temple’s seals, however, not only sealed the Man in Red, but also the temple itself. And the remaining seals held strong.

At the same time, a ghastly ululation—ever so faintly reminiscent of a laugh—erupted from the grey coffin. Dagobert covered his ears and screamed in an attempt to drown out the terrible sound; he felt as though his head had been split asunder by an axe. The light permeating the room grew ever more intense as the ‘laugh’ reached its climax—before ceasing entirely.

A foreboding silence blanketed the hall; one second; two seconds; three seconds. Dagobert felt as though he had sunken to the bottom of the ocean. His movements became sluggish as though he had stuck his hands into a vat of liquid tar. Four seconds; five seconds. Dagoberts drawings became frantic and erratic; at that moment, he wanted nothing more than to leave this hall and never return. And yet, he persisted. Slowly but surely, the seal he was working on had started to reform itself; the cracks in the clay grew smaller, and chains rose up from the ground and attached themselves to the tablet.

Sudden, a glowing illusory figure appeared in mid-air above the coffin. It was a tall, burly man with a long beard that seemed to have a life of its own as it fluttered in the windless hall. A heavy coat was draped around its shoulders; its inside was as black as the night sky, and its outside a deep scarlet. The figure’s hands, feet, and legs were covered by white cloth; it, too, appeared red under the light. And where the figure’s face should have been, there was only an empty void.

Dagobert was too engrossed in his writing to even notice the figure, but Martin did. A singular thought lit up in his mind ‘The Man in Red? But how? There are still eleven seals left!’

Indeed, this was not the Man in Red; or rather, it was not His actual body, for that remained sealed within the coffin. Instead, He had used His authority of gifting and ‘gifted’ Himself a projection of His body. Ever since the breaking of the first seal, His influence had begun seeping out into the hall, and though He was still unable escape His confinement, He could now exert His authority within the temple.

Martin wasted no time and attempted to seal the projection. He traced out eight points around Him in his mind and imagined another stone coffin, whose ‘lid’ was like a door. Martin attempted to ‘close’ that door, but He resisted. Sensing his actions, He took hold of the ‘distance’ between them and ‘gifted’ it to the space behind Himself. Immediately, He appeared before Martin, but the latter had anticipated His interference and jumped to the side as He clove down with His right arm and ‘gifted’ a vacuum to the space where Martin had stood. A thunderclap echoed throughout the hall as the air rushed to fill the sudden emptyness left behind by His arm.

When the Man in Red turned to attack Martin again, he bent down, and touching a large flagstone at his feet, he ‘opened’ it. The flagstone crumbled and revealed a chasm. Moments later, when He appeared before him, He was hovering above the chasm; Martin then ‘closed’ the chasm around Him, and He—along with the chasm—disappeared.

Not letting up for even a moment, Martin ran to the other end of the hall as he shouted at Dagobert ‘Hurry, I can’t hold Him off for much longer’.

Dagobert’s frantic scratching intensified and he managed to fully restore a seal; as he was getting up to prepare working on the second seal, he froze. His mind was was suddenly filled with thoughts of home, of his wife and his children.

A ‘laugh’ echoed across the hall as the Chimney Man’s figure reappeared before him. He had ‘gifted’ him thoughts of what he treasured most, rendering him unable to think of anything else. Martin attempted to ‘close’ off Dagobert’s thoughts, but in so doing, he was unable to stop Him as He once again raised His arm and prepared to strike down Dagobert.

Sudden, a green light lit up in the air above them. The light descended upon Him like a lightning bolt, obliterating His projection. No longer stunned, Dagobert looked up and saw a tall man hovering in mid-air before him. The man had curly grey hair, a ruddy nose, and green eyes; his countenance was firm, yet gentle. He wore a green coat and black trousers with shimmering silver trims. His shoes were capped with ebony, and on his head was a black bowler hat. In his right hand, he held a thin walking stick made of blackthorn, covered in thorns and soot, with a sharp point on one end and a large heavy knob on the other. His cuffs, hat, and coat were adorned with silver quatrefoils. He was a leprechaun, and his name was Ironheart McSaggins.

The Friendly Council had sensed His awakening and had sent an emissary to aid in preventing His escape. While the seals on the temple prevented most them from approaching, the leprechaun had managed to squeeze through.

Ironheart looked at the restored seal beside Dagobert. ‘Repair the seals’, he said ‘your friend and I shall hold off the Chimney Man; we must prevent His escape at all costs’. Dagobert nodded and ran towards the next seal. He had many questions, but this was not the time for them.

Another ‘laugh’ emanated from the coffin as His figure apeared once more.

‘Is there no end to this?’ yelled Martin.

‘Not until all the seals are restored’ replied the leprechaun.

Ironheart raised his walking stick, a traditional Irish shillelagh, and pointed it at Him; once again, a blinding green light illuminated the room. Before it could strike Him down, He extended His left arm and closed His fist. Suddenly, it was Martin who stood atop the coffin, and the Man in Red reappeared at the far end of the hall. He had ‘gifted’ Martin His position and thus exchanged places with him.

As Ironheart barely managed to redirect his attack away from Martin, He wasted no time and, touching the seal before Him, He ‘gifted’ it a lack of structural integrity. The seal shattered as the chains holding it up tumbled down around Him.

Ironheart gritted his teeth and charged at the Man in Red. Presently, He reached into the folds of His coat and produced His ‘gift bag’, reaching into which, He retrieved His sword. Its blade was thin and long, and its hilt ended in a hook. Both were a single white piece, carved from the bone of a creature that went extinct before the fall of Mpumalanga. Around its entirety, a series of red satin bands were wound, which gave rise to a series of alternating red and white diagonal stripes.

Having been teleported around and repeatedly blinded by flashes of green light, Martin only now regained his senses. He turned towards the Man in Red at the other end of the room and extended both of his arms towards Him. Looking at His coat, he then grabbed at the air in front of him, and pulled, closing His coat and trapping His arms inside it. The leprechaun wasted no time: The shillelagh cracked like a whip as it soared through the air and tore right through His projection, which He promptly resummoned above the coffin.

The three of them continued to go back and forth as Dagobert repaired the seals; ever so often He would manage to break one of them, but no faster than they were being restored. For a moment, it almost seemed like they had the upper hand.

Sudden, a dull thud reverberated throughout the hall.

Ironheart froze and looked at the place where Dagobert had been mending the seventh seal: a series of clay tablets were strewn about the seal; a broken reed stylus lay on the ground beside it, and amidst all of it was Dagobert. He had collapsed on the floor and stopped moving.

The Chimney Man ‘laughed’, and in an instant, Ironheart realised his mistake: Not once had he found it odd that ever since taking out His sword from His bag, He had refrained from making any more ‘gifts’. Of course, both him and Martin had rationalised that the mending of the seals, as well as the maintaining of His projection and His sword were taxing Him to the point where He was unable to muster any more of His powers. In this, however, they were mistaken, for the very moment that He retrieved His sword, He had also ‘gifted’ Dagobert a terrible curse. The ensuing battle was merely a ploy to distract His opponents from noticing Dagobert’s condition.

With that, the die was cast. With no one left to mend the seals, He ceased ‘gifting’ the curse and dismissed His sword. He then pointed at a seal in front of Him and ‘gifted’ half of it to the room to the left of the hall, and the other half to the one on the right. Then, as Ironheart’s shillelagh came down on Him once more, He simply stepped to the side and the leprechaun’s attack struck the seal beside him, cracking it as well.

Martin attempted to repair a seal in Dagobert’s stead by ‘closing’ the gaps in between its parts, but this was wholly ineffective: the proper ritual was required to restore a seal, and neither him nor the leprechaun knew it.

While Martin was distracted, He crossed the distance between Him and the next seal; Ironheart, who had anticipated His direction threw his shillelagh at the Man in Red, puncturing His left thigh—except that it actually hit Martin’s left thigh, for He had used the same technique as before and ‘gifted’ His position to Martin; He then destroyed another seal that Dagobert had just mended. With this, He had regained enough of His strength to summon a second projection, and while the first projection continued distracting Ironheart and Martin, the second continued breaking His seals.

Less than a minute later, all but two of His seals had been broken. With the breaking of the twenty-second seal, His strength had increased exponentially: when Ironheart next attempted to call down his green light, He reached out with His right hand and closed it, ‘gifting’ Ironheart’s lightning to himself. Enhanced by His energy, a terrible green bolt enveloped the leprechaun; his body fell to the ground, unconscious.

The Man in Red then proceeded to break the twenty-third seal, completely ignoring Martin, who no longer had any means of impeding Him. As He approached the last seal, the violent forces that had been crashing against the temple walls suddently ceased. Presently, the roof of the temple was torn off like a sheet of paper by some unknown force. Both Martin and the Chimney Man cast their gaze to the sky: Hovering above them in mid-air was a coruscating mass of orange-brown light, swirling about itself like a living maelstrom. Super 𒀭𒄑𒉋𒂵𒎌 had descended.

For a moment, the Man in Red stood still. He was facing the very same entity that had greatly contributed to sealing Him nearly 7000 years prior. This was someone He had no direct means of defeating. For as long as the sun or moon shone its light upon him, there was nothing that could harm 𒀭𒄑𒉋𒂵𒎌.

Presently, 𒀭𒄑𒉋𒂵𒎌 appeared behind His main projection. He touched Him and applied a partial quantum ice-lock to the Man in Red; His second projection disappeared as the fertilty that had seeped out of the coffin was restricted to within His first projection. 𒀭𒄑𒉋𒂵𒎌 then waved his hand and transported himself and Him to his ziggurat in Uruk of +17i. There, an intense battle ensued as more members of the Friendly Council converged on their location.

Meanwhile, Martin, who had just administered first aid to a badly wounded Ironheart McSaggins, turned his head to check on Dagobert. To his amazement, the latter slowly stood up, the Chimney Man’s curse having seemingly dissipated entirely with His departure. Once he was back on his feet, Dagobert calmly turned his head and looked at the twenty-fourth seal. He then walked up to it in a decisive manner, extended his right arm towards it, and touched the seal.

The seal shattered into a thousand pieces.

Marlene Delaney Rodriguez is a hemigod from New Mexico.

Biography
After being voted "The Only Attractive Woman In New Mexico" in 1998, her parents decided to bar her from entering the larger society for fear of her becoming objectified. Ironically, their solution for this was for her to be a waitress at her family truck stop restaurant, the Taste Abductee Restaurant near Roswell, New Mexico.

After being mistreated by many, she decided to turn herself into burger meat as an act of revenge against her parents and society. She hired a mysterious wizard to turn her into burger meat without her parents noticing, but this wizard was actually a serial killer named Kieran Hildermeir who chainsawed her to pieces in the restaurant freezer. A group of witches then stormed the restaurant, murdered everybody inside, and then took Marlene's remains and enacted a ritual that brought her back to life as a hemigod. With so much of her blood in the restaurant, however, her soul became bound to the restaurant. She gained the ability to take and use materials and people in the restaurant between dimensions and she quickly became an important transport location for the extrafertile.

The Chimney Man, frequently also referred to as the Man in Red, is a seemingly timeless, primordial entity that is active each year
around the twenty-fourth of December, and whose purpose and ambitions remain largely
unknown.

Description
The Chimney Man seems to have a place in many cultures of
the world and is referred to by them by a multitude of different names, including
Santa Claus or Father Christmas by many cultures of the present day,
Irkalla by the Sumerians, Mot by the Phoenicians, Old Man Murder
by [REDACTED], as well as He Who Takes Stride Upon the Thrones of Madness
in the legends of the Coffee Haus Mages of the Gambia.

Most of what is ‘known’ about the Chimney Man has been handed down by tradition and
folk tales over the course of centuries and is, as a result, not seldom rooted in falsehood
and misconception.

The only thing that is known for certain is, though a multitude of people claim to
have seen or met Him, investigations conducted by the [[XMAS|Examiners of Malfeasances
Attributable to Santa]] in the early 1960s have yet revealed that the fate
of those poor souls that have the misfortune of having His gaze fall upon
them is sealed, for there is no escaping Him. Hardly anyone has ever met Him
eye to eye, and lived to tell the tale.

History
He was long thought to be a mere invention of the human mind; one man however, disagreed with this notion: at the dawn of the 20th century, Dagobert Winter set out for the ancient land of Sumer. In what followed, He was set free to roam the world once again.

In more recent times, there is one ‘encounter’ of sorts that has been documented.

Ætérnal: /* Arrival */

In early 2022, BOB makes a visit to Greenland to train in Sterility under Nuck Chorris.

To Greenland
In the aftermath of the Restoration of the Mages and after his return from the Wrong Days, BOB was a rather sorry sight. The events of the previous days had exhausted him greatly, and thus, he rested at Burong for a full week. During this time, a terrible shockwave that could be felt all the way to the Gambia washed over the world, and BOB was startled to sense a great amount of Sterility within it.

Having become rather attuned to Sterility after his death, BOB could sense that the source of the event was somewhere far away to the north. Seeing as he was still inexperienced with Sterility, BOB decided to investigate this matter.

After recovering for a few more days, news of the destruction of Iceland had spread to the Gambia, with official reports stating that the island was struck by a meteorite; BOB knew better of course and set out for Iceland that same day.

After travelling for about 3½ hours at Mach 1.3, BOB arrived at the fractured remains of the island. A current of Sterility lingered around the island and led further north, which BOB followed. As he approached Greenland, he could make out a strong presence exuding an aura of sterility moving along the coast of Greenland at super-sonic speed a few hundred metres below sea level. When BOB approached, the being paused for a moment, having clearly noticed him, before resuming its course about a minute later.

This being, of course, was King Arthur, tasked with patrolling the coastline under orders from Nuck Chorris on the lookout for Leafeaters and Sterility pirates. At this point, the past 2 weeks had been rather uneventful since the Leafeaters were brutally beaten by C.H.E.S. not too long ago, and the pirates had all left these waters following the destruction of Iceland.

King Arthur briefly assessed BOB and considered intercepting him but held back for a number of reasons: First, BOB’s sterility—though quite chaotic—surpassed his, and though BOB was likely no match for him in the ocean, King Arthur was far less confident about facing off against him 5km in the air where BOB stood. Secondly, BOB was evidently a Super Ghost, and King Arthur had never heard of a Super Ghost with this level of Sterility amongst the ranks of the Leafeaters, and the only Super Ghost he knew of with any relation to the pirates had been killed not too long ago. Lastly, Nuck had surely noticed BOB at this point and chosen not to take action, so neither would King Arthur. In the end, he merely emptied his 89th cup of algae tea of the day and resumed his patrol.

Arrival
Soon after, BOB spotted a rather dilapidated rustic Scottish castle in the distance; it stuck out like a sore thumb in the frozen wasteland. Upon entering a 15km radius of it, BOB nearly fell out of the sky when an enormous aura of Sterility descended upon him. This aura, of course, emanated from Grigory’s Abyme, which lay below the castle.

As he approched the castle, he was met with a rather odd sight: a middle-aged man wearing a ragged black suit and an oversized fedora was hovering in the air above the castle and began slowly approaching him, all while standing on an antique perambulator. This, of course, was Nuck’s butler, Santiago Petterson, who had been sent by Nuck to receive BOB.

The butler welcomed him to what he called the 'Second Sultanate of Greater Orkney'. For a moment, BOB deliberated whether he should first ask about the rather strange name of the place he now found himself in, or why that man was standing on a perambulator. Before he could do either, Santiago had already flown off towards the castle, so BOB just decided to follow him.

After catching up to Santiago, BOB asked ‘So why did you people... blow up Iceland?'.

‘Oh that was the Leafeaters.’

‘The— the what now?’

Much to BOB’s confusion, Santiago chose not to continue the conversation and instead simply led him through some of the many hallways of the castle until they arrived before an ornate wooden double door. Santiago respectfully knocked on the door before opening it without waiting for a response, revealing a great early-Renaissance-era dining hall.

‘Go in, coffee-drinker’, he said; ‘Grand Vizier Nuck will answer your questions, but beware: such as are not accustomed to consuming oversteeped tea will instead be consumed by the tea.’

This once again left BOB with more questions than answers, and seeing as he made no indication of moving, Santiago gestured towards the hall exasperatedly before resorting to simply shoving BOB in, after which the butler closed the doors behind him.

Resigning himself to his fate, BOB gradually inspected the hall while hovering across it; at its center stood a long wooden table bearing the marks of centuries. A middle-aged man dressed in traditional Scottish attire sat at the seat of honour, slowly sipping a cup of tea. This, of course, was none other than Nuck Chorris.

‘So you’re the, “Grand Vizier”?’ asked BOB.

‘I am Nuck Chorris, Grand Vizier of the Sultanate of Greater Orkney‘, said Nuck.

‘BOB.‘

At this point, from Nuck’s odd title, the fact that his name sounded oddly familiar, to the butler that was flying on a perambulator, and the source of the overwhelming aura of sterility he could sense in this place, BOB had many questions; however, as odd as all of these things may have been, BOB pushed them to the back of his mind and decided to start with the important questions first.

And so, he respectfully sat down at the table and first enquired as to what had happened to Iceland, to which Nuck gave a brief introduction to C.H.E.S.—whom BOB only knew in name as all-but-insane tea fanatics; their age-old enemies, the Leafeaters; as well as the recent battle between the two factions. BOB flinched when Nuck briefly uttered the name of Woodborough Gloucestershire, citing the Problem as the reason for his departure to Greenland; clearly, BOB’s memories of the Wrong Days were all but good.

Of all the things that Nuck told him, a cursory mention of Sterility Techniques was what interested BOB the most. While quite adept at the use of Fertility, it hadn’t been long since his Fertility had been converted to Sterility following his death, for which reason BOB’s proficiency in Sterility was still rather lacking. And so, BOB asked if C.H.E.S. could teach him the proper way of fighting with Sterilty.

Nuck’s Test
In response, Nuck uttered but a singular word. He stood up and walked over to one of the many cupboards that lined the wall, opened it, and after a moment of thinking, produced a small ornate white teacup decorated with a motif of intertwined heathers at the top and holly at the bottom. Returning to the table, he sat back down, put down the cup before BOB, grabbed the equally ornate silver teapot on the table next to him, and poured BOB an entire cup of quality Orkney tea—the same he had been drinking.

‘Drink’, he said.

BOB was not afraid, despite the stories that he had heard about the tea. At once, he imbibed the entirety of the terrible concoction. He had never had tea like this before: its consistency and weight resembled mercury more than something that was supposed to be mostly water, and it burnt his ghostly throat as though he was swallowing liquid fire.

It was at this moment that he understood Santiago’s warning. If he didn’t know better, BOB would have thought Nuck had served him lava. Whatever taste the tea was supposed to have, BOB tasted none of it. Instead, a taste of pure sterility overwhelmed his senses. He started coughing uncontrollably and felt as though his lungs were about to escape his chest. Even as a Super Ghost, he still felt like he had been set ablaze. Immediately, BOB fell off his chair and began wheezing and rolling on the floor, like a top spun out of control.

He knew he could not absorb the tea and wondered if he could alter its Source so as to better endure it, but alas, there were several reasons why that was not an option: BOB hadn’t truly reached Fertile Apotheosis and wasn’t confident that he could control Source on a whim. Moreover, his head was spinning, and any attempt at a precise manipulation of Source would have likely resulted in disaster in that state. Lastly, Nuck may well have noticed and declared his test failed.

And so, BOB resolved to endure it as it was, and what it was was a fight for his life. He knew full well that the tea would grant him Super Death were he to let up for but a moment, as it had many before. Fortunately for BOB however, the tea that had been unable to be absorbed by his untrained body eventually sought a means of escape. It grew hotter and hotter, fueled by his struggle, and started evaporating through his pores. Fifteen minutes later, the tea he had ingested had left his system for good, and BOB lay on the floor, utterly exhausted, and yet left with surprisingly clear skin.

‘You actually survived that; not bad!’ said Nuck, laughing, and emptied another cup of the same tea that BOB had just spent a considerable amount of time fighting for his life with. ‘Still... the tea evaporating, haven’t seen that before’, he added, and BOB thought he briefly saw him look up and away into the distance. ‘Oh well’, he continued, ‘at least you didn’t explode, ha!’ he joked, though BOB wondered whether it truly was a joke.

Nuck then poured himself another cup, emptied that too in one go, stood up from the table, and said ‘come’.

Demonstration
BOB followed Nuck as he led him into a courtyard at the back of the castle; the once lush garden had frozen over after the relocation to Greenland, and many of the trees had been knocked over in the recent battle. Instead of the scent of flowers and bushes, a dense, heavy aura of Sterility hung in the air, emanating from Grigory’s Abyme nearby.

Arriving at the center of the courtyard, Nuck turned to BOB and gave a brief introduction to Sterility Techniques. While a proficient Fertility user, BOB had had little training in the use of Sterility, and as such an overly difficult technique such as Occam’s Razor would have been of little use to him in battle. As such, Nuck opted to teach him Pressure Transfer.

‘Watch’, Nuck said. He waved his hand, and Sterility condensed into a massive 7-ton granite slab in front of them. This was naturally Grand Master Júlio da Silva Fenton-Awnthorpe’s abilty, Seven Sick Stones, which Nuck had used his proficiency in Sterility to replicate.

Nuck walked up to the slab, raised his right arm, and pressed his index finger into the slab. The finger penetrated the slab without resistance, leaving a clearly visible hole as it was retracted. Next, Nuck took two steps back and performed a Pressure Transfer: Raising his arm once more, he gently pushed his finger into the air before him. As he did so, the force of his finger pressing forward was transferred into the air before him, which in turn pushed against the slab. Hundreds of finger-sized holes appeared in the granite in an instant. The slab, which now resembled a great grey block of Swiss cheese, groaned and cracked before shattering under its own weight.

And so, BOB remained at the castle for a few weeks, until he finally performed a successful Pressure Transfer after repeated instruction by King Arthur and several other C.H.E.S. masters.

By early 1822, Murdock’s advances in Sterility had ground to a complete halt. Of course, he staunchly refused to believe that he was the problem and instead attributed his lack of progress to C.H.E.S.’s method of consuming tea being flawed. For some reason, he had come to believe in the superiority of Dry Tea and attempted to transition C.H.E.S. away from what he derogatorily began referring to as ‘wet tea’.

Nuck was veritably disgusted by this notion, which led to a falling-out between the two. They, together with King Arthur, were the founders of C.H.E.S. and had always been considered the organisation’s de-facto leaders. With Murdock’s insistence on the transition to Dry Tea, and Nuck’s absolute refusal to allow the consumption of what he on several occasions called ‘an utter abomination and complete affront to nature and all that is holy’, everyone quickly agreed that words had become useless and that the two of them should let their fists speak instead.

The subsequent duel between Nuck and Murdock was conducted in the form of a traditional bare-knuckle boxing match, albeit with Sterility-enhanced punches, and ended with Nuck’s victory and Murdock’s KO in the 1527th round after an uninterrupted 3 days of fighting. Following his victory, Nuck assumed the sole leadership of C.H.E.S., and Murdock, unable to bear his defeat, left C.H.E.S. with his closest associates and founded the Leafeaters.

The Leafeaters are a reclusive faction of Sterility users, founded by Murdock mac Leod, primarily hailing from Scotland. When Murdock lost the Battle for the Leaf for the leadership of C.H.E.S. to Nuck Chorris, he refused to accept his defeat and instead left C.H.E.S. with his closest associates, founding his own faction soon after with the sole purpose of bringing about the downfall of C.H.E.S.

The hierarchy of the Leafeaters is stricter than that of C.H.E.S. and modelled after the 19th-century ranks of the British Army, with Murdock holding the rank of Field Marshal. This system was adopted by Murdock mainly because he thought it sounded imposing; in fact, none of the members of the Leafeaters have ever served in the military.

As their name would suggest, the Leafeaters invented and to this day exclusively consume Dry Tea.

Murdock mac Leod, born at the dawn of the 18th century, is a C.H.E.S. founder member. He is the father of Tim McLeod and the grandfather of Marilyn McLeod.

Formerly a C.H.E.S. Grand Master, a dispute over who should lead the organisation ended with a duel between him and Nuck Chorris, which Murdock lost. Later, Murdock would found the Leafeaters as an organisation of Sterility users whose sole purpose was to bring about the downfall of C.H.E.S..

As a result of his betrayal, his entire branch of the McLeod clan was struck from the history books.

Personality
Murdock is a rather narcisisstic person, and his tendencies only got worse after he lost to Nuck in the Battle for the Leaf. A good example of this is the Leafeater coat of arms, which is modelled after that of C.H.E.S., with a few minor changes. The most striking one is that he substituted all of the brown with a dark red, which is meant to evoke Murdock’s red hair.

Ability
Murdock’s ability, Fās Nefāstum, which he translates as ‘Profane Dictate’, allows him to affect the physical word using his speech alone. For example, if Murdock points at or even just thinks about a house and says ‘crumble’, then that house will crumble.

This power has limitations in that affecting someone or something with e.g. high sterility requires a proportional amount of sterility. For example, Murdock can’t simply command a proficient sterility user to ‘die’, but he can toss them around or inflict grievous injuries by uttering so much as a single word.

Consequently, a being with equal or greater sterility than him, such as Nuck, would be able to resist his ability.

The most striking one is that he substituted all of the black with a dark red, which is meant to evoke Murdock’s red hair.
